BLACKPINK star LISA released Press Play EP, her first solo EP, on 23 October 2026 through LLOUD and RCA Records, with a music video for the focus track "Tarantino" arriving on the same day. The six-track collection is her first new solo project in one year and eight months, following the debut solo album Alter Ego, which came out in February 2025. The release puts a film concept at the centre of the project, with each song presented as part of a single viewing experience rather than as a standalone single.

The track list opens with "SaWaDiKa" and continues with "V12", "Cobra", "Tarantino", "Cut U Off" and "Sweat". No guest artist is billed on the collection, which keeps the focus on LISA as a solo performer. The full set runs for just over sixteen minutes, according to Spotify, making it a short listen that fits the movie-night idea behind the title. LISA holds songwriting credits on the songs, according to reports on the release.

A hotel mission in the Tarantino video

The video for "Tarantino" follows LISA through a hotel as she tries to deliver a note to filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, who is named in the song title. People standing in her path become part of a series of fight scenes, and the action drives the story from room to room until the note reaches its intended recipient. The video was directed by James Mackel, according to Billboard Philippines, and the hotel setting gives the clip a clear, self-contained plot that matches the cinematic theme of the wider project.

LISA described the concept on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she presented the songs as a journey from her Thai roots to her present position in global pop. Each song was described as having its own character and sound, and the songs together were described as working like a film that listeners can play from start to finish. That explanation matches the structure of the video, which plays out as a short action story that ends with the note reaching its recipient.

SaWaDiKa set up the release

"SaWaDiKa" arrived in September as the lead single, with a video filmed in Bangkok, the city where LISA grew up. The title takes the Thai greeting for hello, and the song leans on Thai elements that run through the wider project. The video passed 70.8 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours, according to Sony Music, and the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 69, her highest debut on the chart to date, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. That chart start gave the full collection a ready audience before the remaining songs were released.

Alter Ego, the album that came before this collection, peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, according to reports on the release. LISA also won Best Pop at the MTV Video Music Awards for "Dream", a song from that album, and was reported by Hypebeast as the first solo K-pop artist to win the category. Her documentary Always Lalisa, directed by Sue Kim, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and has since opened in cinemas worldwide, tracing the solo year that included the launch of LLOUD and a solo Coachella debut.

What comes next for the EP

Before the release, LISA held a listening party for fans in Seoul, in the Seongsu-dong district, on the day before the collection came out. The event used a vintage Hollywood theatre concept, with the setting chosen to match the film mood of the songs. A free pop-up in Los Angeles was also scheduled around the release weekend, giving fans in the city a chance to hear the songs in a shared space.

The rollout also reached beyond music. PlayStation released a commercial on 21 October that previews "Tarantino" and promotes a limited-edition LISA controller in a Chroma Pearl finish, with the collection launching on 30 October. The next major live step is the VIVA LA LISA residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in November. The initial four shows sold out in under ten minutes, according to Hypebeast, and two more dates were added to the run, which was reported as the first Las Vegas residency headlined by a K-pop artist.

Beyond music, LISA made her television acting debut in the third season of HBO's The White Lotus, a step that widened her audience beyond pop listeners. She is also attached to TYGO, a film connected to the Extraction universe, according to reports on her acting work. Those screen roles sit alongside the documentary Always Lalisa, which follows the launch of her own company and a solo festival debut. The combination gives the new songs a wider frame than a standard pop release, with screen work running in parallel to the music.

The release arrives alongside other recent music coverage, including recent coverage of John Legend's Muse album and a tribute marking twenty years of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. The collection is available on streaming services now.
