hololive Anime 'Let's Head Out!' Reveals Cast, Teaser Visual

The working title was just a puzzle. After weeks of fans guessing what "Odeholo" meant, COVER Corporation gave the answer on Wednesday: the full title of the first hololive anime is "Odekake hololive," officially "hololive: Let's Head Out!" in English. The news landed during a one-hour information program on the anime's official YouTube channel, where hosts Shirakami Fubuki and Ookami Mio ran through the cast, the staff, and a teaser visual showing all 29 participating talents.

A travel show on days off

The series will be an omnibus travel story built around a simple idea. The girls of hololive production spend their days streaming on screen, but on their days off they like to head out. From season to season they will visit places across Japan, eat local food, and laugh their way through destinations they have never seen. COVER's own announcement describes the series as an omnibus travel story of the talents' lively, food-filled outings.

Who is in it

The teaser visual shows the full 29-person lineup, spanning the agency's generations. It includes Tokino Sora, the agency's first talent, along with Shirakami Fubuki, Hoshimachi Suisei, Usada Pekora, Houshou Marine, Inugami Korone, Ookami Mio, and Nekomata Okayu. The rest of the cast covers Roboco-san, Aki Rosenthal, Natsuiro Matsuri, Nakiri Ayame, Yuzuki Choco, Oozora Subaru, AZKi, Sakura Miko, Shiranui Flare, Shirogane Noel, Tsunomaki Watame, Tokoyami Towa, Himemori Luna, Yukihana Lamy, Momosuzu Nene, Shishiro Botan, Omaru Polka, La+ Darknesss, Takane Lui, Hakui Koyori, and Kazama Iroha.

The studio and staff

Animation production is in the hands of Studio KAI, which has a long history with hololive. The studio made the hololive Alternative animated shorts and a run of official animated music videos for the agency. Shunsuke Machitani is directing the series, with Ouri Yasukawa as assistant director. Kodai Minami of Studio KAI is handling series composition, Masatoshi Tsuji is designing the characters, and COVER Corporation holds the original-work credit, according to Anime Corner's report on the announcement.

Five years in the making

The hololive anime is one of the flagship projects of hololive's 10th anniversary countdown, which kicked off on September 7, 2026, the group's ninth birthday, and runs through the actual anniversary on September 7, 2027. It was first unveiled that day during the "hololive Next" broadcast, where COVER confirmed the series was in production with Studio KAI attached. COVER CEO Motoaki Tanigo said on the stream that the project had been in development for roughly five years. In the run-up to Wednesday's reveal, the company asked fans to guess the meaning of "Odeholo" on X with the hashtag #Odeholo. The answer was hiding in plain sight: "odekake" is the Japanese word for going out.

A bigger anniversary plan

The anime is not the only thing COVER lined up for the anniversary year. The September 7 broadcast also introduced a 10th-anniversary countdown site, a redesigned hololive production logo, and plans to fold regional brands such as hololive Indonesia and hololive English into one unified hololive brand. A new talent unit called "ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI!" is also on the way, the first new unit in about two years. Details on the unit's members are expected to roll out through September.

Why fans wanted this

hololive launched in September 2017 with the debut of Tokino Sora and has grown into one of the largest VTuber agencies in the world. As of June 2026, Hololive Production's channels held more than 95.2 million YouTube subscribers. The first hololive anime has sat near the top of the fanbase's wish list for years, and the anniversary slate treats it as a centerpiece. It joins a crowded fall season that already includes the Magic Knight Rayearth reboot, which premieres October 7.
