Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi has locked in a launch date for its next laptop line. The Redmi Book 2027 laptop will be unveiled in China on October 27 at 7pm local time, arriving alongside the Redmi K100 smartphone, according to teasers the company shared on Weibo and reported by Gadgets360. Xiaomi has so far confirmed the fourteen-inch model in detail, with a larger sixteen-inch sibling expected but not yet official. For more new hardware coverage, see the Latest Gadgets section.
The headline hardware change is the processor. The new machines will run a third-generation Intel Core Ultra chip built on Intel's 18A process, a step up from the Core Ultra 5 125H inside the Book 14 and Book 16 models released in April. That chip pairs with LPDDR5X memory running at up to 7,467MT per second, a figure near the top of what laptops ship with today and one that should help with heavy multitasking. The short cycle matters because the 18A process is Intel's most advanced manufacturing node, and early access could give Redmi a performance story its budget rivals cannot match this year. Notebookcheck reports the silicon belongs to Intel's Wildcat Lake family, which would make the new Redmi line one of the first laptops to ship with it.
Xiaomi also confirmed a 72Wh battery for the fourteen-inch model, which it says can deliver up to 1.26 days of local video playback on a single charge. The company is pitching the lineup at people who work away from a desk, and the cooling hardware backs up the claim: a dual-fan system with a three-dimensional airflow design and a ten-millimetre heat pipe handles thermal management.
A new look and an AI assistant
The teaser images show a Nebula Purple metal chassis with a full-size keyboard, a large trackpad and a circular power button. Promotional art also shows a blue variant with a bigger display, which lines up with expectations of a sixteen-inch model joining the lineup. The Nebula Purple finish is the boldest of the two confirmed options, and it marks a shift from the muted greys that have dominated budget laptops. The circular power button is a small but noticeable design choice, and the full-size keyboard suggests Redmi is still targeting writers and students rather than shaving off every millimetre. Xiaomi says the redesign brings brighter colour options and sturdier build quality than the April refresh, and Gizmochina notes the company has not yet said how many models the series will include.
Software gets a bump as well. The Redmi Book 2027 laptop will ship with Super XiaoAI 2.0, Xiaomi's AI assistant for generating content, scheduling tasks and building presentations. It ties into the Mi Home app and lets users power the machine on or off remotely from a phone or tablet, the kind of phone-to-laptop control that has long been part of Xiaomi's ecosystem pitch. That integration means the laptop can slot into a wider setup of Xiaomi phones, tablets and smart home gear. There is no word yet on an international release, according to Notebookcheck.
What we still don't know
Screen sizes, memory and storage configurations, and pricing all remain under wraps until the launch event. The six-month turnaround from the April refresh to this October debut is quick for an affordable laptop line, and it suggests Redmi wants its newest machines in front of shoppers ahead of the holiday season. Redmi has not confirmed whether the event will stream globally or stay China-only, so international buyers may be waiting longer for pricing in their own markets. Redmi has built its reputation on undercutting bigger brands on price, so the pricing announcement will decide whether this launch is a quiet spec bump or a genuine shake-up in the budget laptop market.
Sharing the stage is the Redmi K100 phone, which is expected to arrive with a battery rated at ten thousand milliamp-hours, reported by Gizmochina to be the largest ever fitted in a Xiaomi handset. It also gets a dedicated graphics chip, an oversized vibration motor for haptics and dual speakers tuned by Bose, aimed squarely at gamers and media watchers. The phone is expected to complete a K100 series that already includes Pro and Pro Max models launched in August. More details on both product lines are expected at the event.
