MomTok Feud Erupts: Taylor Frankie Paul Clashes With Co-Stars

MomTok has survived a soft-swinging scandal, a season paused mid-production, and one very public custody fight. But the latest MomTok feud now spilling across TikTok and Instagram may be the one that actually breaks it. Since The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives wrapped its fifth season on Hulu, several cast members have turned their feeds into battlegrounds against their former circle, and the comment sections have become where the story keeps unfolding.

The latest flare-up started with a TikTok that had nothing to do with Taylor Frankie Paul. Influencer Emma Ellis posted a video featuring Miranda Hope's ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, trying to kiss her. Taylor commented on the clip: "I'm kind of jealous." Miranda answered with a meme reading, "B–h, you on some weird s–t," and Layla Taylor piled on with, "The double standard is insane."

Taylor did not let it sit. In an Instagram comment reported by Parade, she said the jealousy accusations were embarrassing because her comment was about Emma, whom she has called her "girl crush" before, and suggested Miranda and Layla could "privately apologize" to her instead.

The ex-husband at the center of it

Miranda's response cut deeper than memes. According to Parade, she detailed Taylor's ongoing friendship with her ex-husband: late-night phone calls, requests to appear on a podcast, invitations to come over. "If I did that with Dakota, I'd end up in a ditch somewhere," Miranda wrote. "Once again, it's about the principle."

"Trying to make it about jealousy is so laughable; I wouldn't wait up for that apology call," she added. Layla then brought the courtroom into the comments, mocking the jealousy claim by pointing to reports that Taylor now has only eight hours of supervised parenting time with her kids each week. "Don't wait up on the call, love," Layla wrote.

Those reports come from TMZ, which reported that Taylor allegedly failed multiple court-ordered drug tests within the last 60 days amid custody battles with ex-husband Tate Paul and ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. Per TMZ's sources, the court subsequently ordered Taylor to have eight hours of parenting time each week, with the substances involved not disclosed. Taylor shares two children with Tate and her youngest with Mortensen.

Mayci's storyline, Taylor's "aura"

The Emma Ellis clip was not the only front in the feud. A Reddit fan page circulated a screenshot of a separate exchange between Mayci Neeley and Taylor, per Reality Tea. When a fan asked why Mayci was barely shown on Season 5, Mayci said her storylines get cut because her personal life is too "normal" and not "messy" enough for the show.

Taylor's reply was characteristically unfiltered: she credited her "aura," or what she called an "it" factor, saying her co-stars hate her for something that cannot be bought.

What happened to sisterhood

The fallout is a long way from the show's premise. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu with a group of Utah Mormon mom influencers who sold viewers on sisterhood, smashing stereotypes, and taking down the patriarchy. Taylor herself was the catalyst for the whole enterprise: her 2022 TikTok confession about soft-swinging within the MomTok group went viral and landed them the series.

That history makes the current split land harder. Filming for Season 5 was halted in March after two domestic violence investigations involving Taylor and Mortensen, and sources told People that several cast members refused to film with her. When the group reunited in July to wrap the season, Taylor was not part of it. Mikayla Matthews later accused Taylor of "weaponizing" her fans, according to People, saying Taylor kept reposting claims that the others only got opportunities because she turned them down.

Is MomTok actually ending?

The exit board keeps growing. According to Reality Tea, Whitney Leavitt announced she was leaving the show after Season 5, and Mikayla said she was departing during Season 6 filming because "a certain person was coming back," widely read as a reference to Taylor. Layla and Mayci have both hinted they may not return after Season 6 either. Taylor, for her part, recently announced she decided to quit the series, reportedly in part because of alleged "bullying."

That leaves MomTok in strange shape: a creator collective built on group content where most of the group no longer wants to be in the same group chat. The show's unofficial tagline has always been "Will MomTok survive this?" After five seasons, the cast is finally answering it in the comments, and the answer does not look friendly.

For now, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is still streaming on Hulu and Disney+, and Season 6 filming continues without the sisterhood that made it. MomTok is not the only corner of creator culture playing out its grievances in public this month: Converse recently pulled a Karina ad campaign after online backlash over its imagery, and a Twitch streamer issued an on-camera apology after reading a slur aloud on stream. Taylor has not responded further to Miranda and Layla's latest volleys, but in the MomTok feud, quiet stretches rarely last long.
