Clavicular Rape Charges in Massachusetts: What We Know

Braden Peters, the 20-year-old "manosphere" streamer better known online as Clavicular, has been charged in a Massachusetts court with rape, drugging a person for sexual intercourse, and providing alcohol to a person under 21, according to court records viewed by USA TODAY. The charges were filed on September 8 in Orleans District Court on Cape Cod, in connection with an alleged incident on May 23, 2025. News of the Clavicular rape charges first broke on September 21, when The Bulwark reported them.

It is the most serious legal turn yet for one of the most controversial figures to come out of the looksmaxxing movement, a subculture built around extreme and often dangerous tactics for maximizing physical attractiveness. Peters has not been convicted of anything, and he remains presumed innocent. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 14, and court records indicate he has not been arrested or taken into custody.

What the criminal charges allege

The three-count filing breaks down into two felonies and a misdemeanor. The first two counts are felonies: rape, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in state prison on conviction, and drugging a person for sexual intercourse, which carries a mandatory 10-year minimum sentence or a maximum of life. The third count, procuring liquor for a person under 21, is a misdemeanor. The victim is not named in the criminal complaint, which is standard under Massachusetts law in cases involving sexual offenses.

Details beyond the charges themselves remain limited. The Bulwark, which first surfaced the case, noted that the charging documents do not spell out the underlying allegations. What the outlets reporting the story do note is the timing: the May 23, 2025 date cited in the Clavicular rape charges matches up closely with a civil lawsuit filed against Peters earlier this year by a fellow influencer.

The civil lawsuit that preceded the charges

In April, Aleksandra Vasilevna Mendoza, an 18-year-old influencer who posts online as Alorah, sued Peters in Miami-Dade County for physical and sexual abuse over the same May 2025 incident at Peters' family home on Cape Cod. According to the lawsuit, Peters met Mendoza online when she was 16 and paid her $1,000 to appear in videos as the female face of his looksmaxxing content. She then traveled to his family's Cape Cod home, where she says alcohol was provided and she became heavily intoxicated.

Mendoza alleges in the suit that Peters had sex with her while she was unable to give consent, and that she woke up the following morning to find him having sex with her again without her consent. The suit also alleges Peters injected her with what the filing calls an "unapproved drug" during a livestream when she was 16. Mendoza amended her complaint in June to add a count tied to the sexual assault allegation. In July, Peters moved to dismiss most of the counts, keeping only the battery claim related to the alleged injection, and asked the court to separate the sexual battery count into its own case.

Peters has denied the allegations. His representative, Mitchell Jackson, told The Hollywood Reporter on September 21 that Peters "has not been physically served" and accused The Bulwark of "exaggerating the status of a case to boost traffic." In a text message to NBC News the same night, Jackson said, "As usual, The Bulwark is exaggerating." A representative told TMZ that the civil suit initially did not include a sexual assault count, only adding it months later, and sources close to Peters described the situation as a "shakedown" that he intends to fight "till the end."

How Peters responded online

After news of the charges emerged on September 21, Peters took to X with a series of posts pushing back on Mendoza's claims. He shared video of Mendoza in which she described the injection as "fun" and called him "super nice." In another post, he called out a post by Mendoza about working as a bottle girl and wrote, "Happens to all successful young men, people try to come for your money. Greed is evil." A third post shared video from what appeared to be a livestream in which Mendoza said she was 18.

The posts did little to slow the coverage. People and Variety picked up the story within hours of the initial report, and the New York Post framed it around the legal jeopardy Peters now faces, including the possibility of a 20-year sentence and sex offender registration if convicted. USA TODAY reported that it was unable to reach Peters' representative for further comment.

The looksmaxxing empire behind the streamer

Clavicular built his following on "looksmaxxing," the online movement that promotes extreme, sometimes dangerous methods for improving one's appearance. USA TODAY reported that Peters has hit himself in the face with a hammer so that the bones grow back sharper, a practice known as bone smashing, and has taken small amounts of methamphetamine to suppress his appetite. Offshoots of the trend have drifted into sexist, misogynistic, and racist philosophies, and Peters himself has drawn criticism for using racial slurs during his streams.

The charges cap a rough year for the streamer. In March, Peters was arrested and charged with battery in an unrelated case. In April, he was hospitalized after a suspected overdose. In May, prosecutors charged him after alleging he and another streamer shot at an alligator in the Florida Everglades, a case he pleaded out to that same month, according to local reporting. In June, he walked the runway for the 424 Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week.

What happens next

Peters is due back in court on October 14 for his arraignment, where the charges will be formally read and he will enter a plea. The civil case in Miami-Dade County is running on a separate track, with Peters' motion to dismiss still pending. He has not been convicted of any wrongdoing, and both cases are still at an early stage. Peters is not the only online personality spending 2026 in court: prank influencer Heston James pleaded guilty in Arizona this month, and the Poco Lee case was pushed to 2027 after prosecutors asked for more time.
