Kai Cenat has taken his new IRL travel series underground, and possibly into streaming history. The Twitch star went live from inside Þríhnúkagígur, a dormant Icelandic volcano, on the September 26 debut of his "Exploring the Unexplored" series, and is reported to be the first streamer to broadcast live from inside a volcano, according to win.gg.

Cenat had planned to go live a day earlier but called off the original date after professionals advised against it over dangerous wind, announcing the delay in an X post before finally going live a day later. His own YouTube upload of the trip, titled "I Visited Unexplored Places In Iceland," includes a dedicated Þríhnúkagígur volcano segment, confirming the descent was a centerpiece of the broadcast.

Þríhnúkagígur sits near Reykjavik and is described by tour operators as the only volcano in the world where visitors can descend into its magma chamber and walk around. For a streamer whose audience is used to subathons and collaborations, stepping into a cavern hundreds of feet below ground with a working internet connection was the entire bet of the series: spectacle you cannot fake from a studio.

Chaos inside the crater

The stream wasted no time getting messy. Seconds after Cenat went live, a fan passing by in a car stream-sniped him, reported win.gg. From there the highlights stacked up: a tug-of-war match against a local dressed as a Viking, which Cenat lost, a shot of mead he claimed would boost his aim before he failed to land an axe on a target, and a moment of panic when he climbed into a vehicle and briefly thought he had gotten into the wrong car. Viewers also noticed he was using a wrist-mounted phone holder to read chat messages, the same trick iShowSpeed uses on his own travel streams.

The production was noticeably bigger than a phone on a selfie stick. Cenat rolled with two helicopters, one carrying him and a second one capturing aerial footage, and fans jokingly spammed "RIP" in chat during the helicopter segments. More importantly for the future of the format, he kept his internet connection alive inside the volcano. That detail matters because iShowSpeed has previously cited connectivity as one of the hardest parts of preparing his own IRL broadcasts, and underground rock is about as hostile an environment for a signal as it gets.

The Icelandic leg was not only volcanoes. Cenat tried to catch sheep and fell into manure, sampled sheep testicles as a local delicacy and liked them, met an Icelandic model whom viewers compared to Marlon "Mar3LG" Lundgren Garcia, and had to ask his driver to stop and check on fans who got into a car accident while following the stream. At one point a crowd swarmed him and stole his hat off his head.

The Streamer University 2027 update is a real expansion of a format that pulled massive numbers this year, and putting applications on the ground in Europe signals where his audience growth is aimed.

He also floated an idea that has the fan base arguing: an IRL world tour alongside iShowSpeed, which he called one of the biggest streams of all time. And the travel ambitions do not stop there. The Local Report reports that Cenat has shared plans to take the series to the Seven Wonders of the World, naming landmarks including the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, the Colosseum, Machu Picchu, Petra, Chichén Itzá and Christ the Redeemer. That report also notes some viewers accused him of copying iShowSpeed, whose global travel streams built the template Cenat is now chasing.
