The Justice GTA VI score just became one of the most anticipated music drops of the year. Rockstar Games announced on Thursday, October 29, that Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score, composed by French duo Justice, lands on December 11, according to Rockstar's own Newswire post. A brand new single came out the same day.
What Rockstar actually announced
The album is composed by Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, the Grammy-winning pair behind Justice. It features thirty tracks, plus a number of digital bonus tracks included across all formats, according to Rockstar. Together the material adds up to roughly three hours of music written for the game.
It arrives on all major streaming services, and on double CD and triple vinyl. A limited crystal clear vinyl pressing sits next to the standard black edition, and pre-orders are already open, according to Beatportal.
Pusher: the new Gesaffelstein collab
The fresh single is called "Pusher," and it features fellow French producer Gesaffelstein. It is the first time the two acts have ever worked together in the studio. Beatportal describes it as folding dark electro and EBM into Justice's signature distortion, a darker and more cinematic read on the world of Leonida.
Consequence says a throttling bass guides the first half, with siren-like synths rising and falling to ramp up tension. If you only know Justice from dancefloor bangers, this one is the moody, instrumental flip side. The Apple Music listing shows the track running seven minutes and two seconds.
Not the same thing as the soundtrack
Here is where people get confused. The game also has a separate official soundtrack album of thirty-four tracks from a long roster of artists, and that one arrives with the game. The score is a different product, built from the music that reacts to gameplay.
That is the key idea. Rockstar says the score is dynamically tuned to game events as they unfold, so it shifts depending on how players move through Vice City and Leonida during the story of Jason and Lucia. Think of it as the soundtrack to your own chaos rather than a playlist.
Why the Justice GTA VI score matters
De Rosnay explained the scale of the job in the official statement. "The scope of the game is so large geographically and thematically that it was clear from the beginning the music would also have to be very broad in terms of emotions, genres, and textures," he said. The duo says Rockstar gave them freedom to explore as many ideas as they needed, as long as it fit the game.
There is a chart angle too. "Flower In a Hurricane," the single featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard that played in the launch trailer, has peaked at number sixty-two on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Beatportal. That is Justice's first appearance on that chart as a lead artist.
The timing is smart for Rockstar. A score release after launch gives the Justice GTA VI score its own news cycle, keeps the game in conversation through the holidays, and lets listeners dig into the instrumental side of Vice City without any gameplay spoilers. Vinyl collectors in particular will likely jump on the limited crystal clear pressing, which is a format that has become a big part of how younger fans buy music they love.
Key dates and what to watch
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The score follows three weeks later, on December 11. That gap means players get to hear the music in context first, then replay it on their own terms.
Rockstar has not published the full track list yet, so the other twenty-eight songs remain a mystery. Retail listings have shown conflicting track counts, but the studio's own announcement says thirty, and that is the number to trust. Expect more previews between now and release day.
For music fans, this is a big moment for electronic acts reaching a gaming audience of millions. More of our coverage lives in the music section and the tech desk. For now, "Pusher" is streaming, the pre-save link is live, and the countdown to December is on.
