Jordan Brand is turning a basketball movie into a full-blown streetwear moment. The brand announced this week a Space Jam Anniversary celebration marking thirty years since the 1996 film, built around a cross-sport footwear and apparel collection, a campaign called "Greatness Is Never Out of Reach," and a six-part mini-doc series, all starting November 5, 2026, according to Nike. The Space Jam Anniversary is one of the most ambitious heritage plays the brand has attempted in years, pairing a nostalgia-packed product lineup with a media strategy aimed squarely at a generation that watched the film on streaming long after its release.
The Space Jam Anniversary collection puts five new Air Jordan 11 designs at the center, each highlighting a different part of the film's story. The "Magic Ball" colorway, a women's silhouette, takes inspiration from the scene where the Monstars capture NBA talent inside a glowing basketball, with an all-over synthetic-leather upper that shifts among four colors, a design first for the Air Jordan 11, as reported by Sports Illustrated. The "Green Screen" colorway reimagines the filmmaking technology behind the original movie as a canvas, with orange outsole accents nodding to Bugs Bunny's carrots and to production tracking markers, and packaging showing Michael Jordan holding a film clapperboard.
Beyond the Air Jordan 11s, the Space Jam Anniversary lineup extends to the Jordan First 1, the Air Jordan 3 Retro, an Air Jordan 1 Low SE "Magic Ball," an Air Jordan 1 Low Golf Spike, and the brand's newest signature model, the Air Jordan 41, plus apparel for men, women and kids across lifestyle, basketball, golf, baseball and training. Prices run from one hundred thirty dollars for the Air Jordan 1 Low colorways up to two hundred fifty dollars for the Green Screen Air Jordan 11, with the Magic Ball pair retailing for two hundred thirty dollars in women's sizing, according to Sports Illustrated. A varsity jacket anchors the apparel, built with faux-wool, retro patches, trading card graphics, a Monstars galaxy inner lining and a "Secret Stuff" interior tag, alongside a Lola Bunny long-sleeve jersey, hoodies, crewnecks, fleece pants and graphic tees with archival film references.
The campaign and the docuseries
The "Greatness Is Never Out of Reach" campaign is anchored in the film's climactic stretch scene, where Michael Jordan extends his arm to the rim, and it stars a roster built to bridge eras: UConn basketball star Azzi Fudd, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, Nigerian artist Rema and multi-hyphenate creative Teyana Taylor. "Space Jam has inspired people to dream beyond what seemed possible for 30 years," said Caitlin Sargent, Jordan Brand's vice president and chief marketing officer, adding that the brand keeps remixing its iconic stories to make them relevant for today's generation. The campaign gives the Space Jam Anniversary its media backbone, selling the feeling before the product.
The other half of the play is Space Jam: Beyond the Jam, a six-part mini-doc series airing exclusively on Jordan Brand's YouTube channel, featuring Michael Jordan alongside filmmakers, athletes and cultural figures with untold stories from the making of the 1996 film, according to Nike. The series is produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, and it marks the first step in repositioning the brand's YouTube platform as "Jordan TV," focused on premium long-form storytelling for the next generation. The Space Jam Anniversary is not just product, then, it is an entertainment project dressed in sneakers.
Why the anniversary lands now
The timing shows how tightly Space Jam is woven into sneaker culture's calendar. The Air Jordan 9 "Space Jam" colorway returned last month, and the Air Jordan 11 Retro "Space Jam" is scheduled for December 12, 2026, the first time the colorway has released since the film's twentieth anniversary in 2016, according to Sole Retriever. Friends-and-family exclusives are part of the festivities too: a laser-etched Air Jordan 11 with movie graphics on the patent leather panel and a "30" logo on the heel in place of the usual "23" was unveiled at a Jordan event in Los Angeles this week, as reported by Sole Retriever. Each wave has treated the film's thirtieth year as a season rather than a single drop, with the November collection and the docuseries as the headline acts of the Space Jam Anniversary.
For Gen Z shoppers, the practical play is straightforward. The Space Jam Anniversary collection begins rolling out November 5, 2026, through jordan.com and select retailers, with several colorways on staggered dates into December. The docuseries is the free part of the deal, which makes it the smartest entry point for anyone who does not want to pay resale. The counterpoint is the one every anniversary collection faces: nostalgia mining can feel like a rerun with a new box. Jordan Brand's answer is in the scope, pairing the product with documentary storytelling and a youth-focused campaign instead of another straightforward retro. Where earlier anniversary capsules asked fans to relive a moment, the Space Jam Anniversary asks a new generation to stretch toward one, quite literally the campaign's premise.
