HUF is going back to the garage. The skate brand has teamed up with Toyota again for a second Land Cruiser collaboration, and the new capsule arrives September 25 at HUF stores and through HUF's online shop.
This Land Cruiser collaboration follows the brands' earlier outing and pushes further into the truck's past. Rather than repeating the badge across familiar silhouettes, HUF worked from vintage Toyota sales catalogs, pulling the typography, illustrations and fine print that once sold the vehicle and reworking it through its own lens.
Vintage catalogs, skate-ready basics
The graphic language of the Land Cruiser collaboration comes from the pages of old dealer brochures. The focus is the truck's heritage models, the rugged versions associated with long expeditions across difficult terrain. Catalog type, diagram-style illustrations and the small print of decades-old advertising all show up across the range, reworked rather than simply reproduced.
Screen printing carries most of the artwork in this Land Cruiser collaboration. Five tees spread the catalog-inspired graphics across the collection's lightest pieces, keeping the flat, bold look of the original print ads. The shirts include designs tied to the Land Cruiser 70, Turbo, Rally, Global and Special graphics, each with printed artwork on the front and back plus co-branded trims. On HUF's US store the tees are listed at $38.
The heavier end of the Land Cruiser collaboration covers jackets and hoodies. A heavyweight full-zip hoodie carries an oversized Intercontinental Rally badge on the back, built from a heavy cotton fleece with a relaxed fit. It is listed at $120 on the US store. Embroidered caps round out the wearable range with custom stitching.
Accessories push the Land Cruiser collaboration past clothing. Skate decks put the truck graphics onto HUF's home turf, and the strangest item in the lineup is also the most on-theme: a set of original air fresheners, a nod to the truck's cabin that works as a small collectible.
Why the truck keeps working in streetwear
The Land Cruiser has long lived a double life. In the United States it is sold as a capable luxury SUV; in much of the rest of the world it is the vehicle that turns up in the toughest places on the map, from desert crossings to mountain tracks. That second reputation is the one this Land Cruiser collaboration draws on, treating the truck as expedition equipment rather than a showroom object.
The pairing makes sense for HUF. The brand was founded in San Francisco in 2002 by professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel, and it has always mixed skate culture with outside influences. Working from sales catalogs gives this Land Cruiser collaboration a particular texture: the source material is vintage marketing rather than the vehicle itself. Hypebeast, which first reported the drop, noted that the catalogs supply the design rather than the badge alone.
Car brands and streetwear labels have been crossing into each other's lanes for years, from motorsport liveries on racing jackets to full automaker capsules. The archive approach sets this Land Cruiser collaboration apart. It is a collection about how the truck was sold, not just how it looks, which gives the graphics a documentary quality the usual badge swap cannot match.
Release details and pricing
The HUF x Toyota collection releases September 25 at HUF stores and via the brand's online store, according to Hypebeast's release report. Tees in the Land Cruiser collaboration are priced at $38, with the heavyweight full-zip hoodie at $120, per HUF's US store listings like the full-zip hoodie page.
The drop also lands at a moment when automotive graphics are everywhere in streetwear, from racing jackets to workwear-style overalls. HUF's bet is that the Land Cruiser's expedition history gives its version of the trend more staying power than a logo on a tee.
For shoppers who missed the first outing earlier this year, the second Land Cruiser collaboration is a fresh chance at the archive graphics. The drop is live now, and HUF's stores and site carry the full lineup of this Land Cruiser collaboration.
