The Gap A.P.C. collection is a 37-piece collaboration that filters the French label's restrained tailoring through the American brand's workwear roots. The collection went live on Friday, September 18, at 9 a.m. ET on Gap's website, at A.P.C.'s Mercer Street store in New York, and at select Gap retail locations in the U.S. and Canada, with wider distribution across Japan, Europe, and the UK.
The range spans men's, women's, and accessories, and it takes its cues from 1960s cinema, music, and art. The idea is straightforward: casual utility cut with structured design. Prices run from $28 to $328, which keeps most of the collection within reach of shoppers who would buy either brand on its own.
Denim leads the lineup
Denim anchors the Gap A.P.C. collection. Men’s Journal reports that the Japanese Denim Relaxed Straight Jeans are priced at $148, with a lined Japanese denim jacket at $198, and the range also includes a black bootcut jean in rigid denim. The designs draw from the brands’ archives with references to 1970s style. On the men's side, a Denim Jacket and Relaxed Straight Jeans come in premium Japanese denim, each priced under $200. The women's offering includes the High Rise Stride and the Low Rise '90s Loose, both cut from Gap's rigid 100% cotton denim. Two jackets round out the denim story: a Shaped Denim Jacket with a sculptural cut, and an Icon Denim Jacket lined with bespoke graphics drawn from the brands' archives.
The choice of Japanese denim matters to both labels. A.P.C. built its reputation on clean, raw denim with a minimal wash, and Gap has spent decades refining its own denim fits. Here the two approaches meet in the middle, with the Japanese fabric giving the pieces a denser hand than Gap's usual offering. The women's fits use Gap's rigid 100% cotton denim, keeping the collection's denim story consistent across the men's and women's ranges rather than splitting the two by fabric quality.
Gap Brand president and CEO Mark Breitbard said in a press release that the partnership started from a shared vision, pairing A.P.C.’s Parisian perspective with Gap’s heritage of modern American style.
Beyond denim
The rest of the collection moves away from jeans into tailored outerwear, Oxford shirting, knitwear, and matching sets with a mod influence, made in cashmere, wool, and corduroy. Sailor stripes show up reworked rather than literal, and utility detailing runs through several pieces.
One standout is the Extra Heavyweight Hoodie, which carries a reworked version of the Gap arch logo redrawn in A.P.C.'s signature typography. Accessories use the same treatment, putting the blended logo on smaller goods that sit at the lower end of the price range.
The campaign film
To support the release, the brands produced a short campaign film titled The Long Way, directed by Karl Cannone and shot in Montmartre, Paris. The film stars rapper ian and DJ Paloma Le Friant, an unusual pairing that reflects how the collection tries to speak to both American street culture and European fashion audiences. Details of the launch were reported by Hypebeast this week.
Montmartre is a fitting backdrop. The neighborhood has long been associated with artists and musicians rather than luxury flagships, which lines up with a collection that pulls from 1960s music and cinema instead of runway references.
The signatures of the Gap A.P.C. collection are easy to spot: Japanese denim, archive-inspired jackets, reworked sailor stripes, and hoodies carrying the blended Gap and A.P.C. logo. That last detail matters most to collectors of collaborations. The reworked arch logo, redrawn in A.P.C.’s typography, is the clearest visual signal of the partnership, and it appears across the accessories in the lineup.
How to get it
The collection launched September 18 at 9 a.m. ET. Gap Encore members and cardmembers received early access starting September 17, a one-day head start on the public launch. The full 37-piece range is available through Gap's site, A.P.C.'s Mercer Street store, at 10 select Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada, alongside distribution in Japan, Europe, the UK, and additional international markets. The brands also planned launch activations in New York City and Tokyo, with a New York pop-up on September 17 for Gap Encore members. The capsule is limited edition.
It has been a busy month for the collaboration formula. Supreme’s winter capsule with Nike lands September 24, and Awake NY’s FW26 Cold World collection took its own run at New York street style earlier this month. The Gap and A.P.C. entry follows the same playbook: recognizable silhouettes, one strong graphic treatment, and a campaign that gives the clothes a story. Whether the archive graphics and reworked logo are enough to make the pieces stand out from either brand's regular output is for shoppers to decide, but the $28 entry point means curiosity costs little.
