The Weeknd tour record is official: the Toronto superstar closed out his After Hours Til Dawn Tour in Kuala Lumpur this week, and it is now the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo male artist, according to Pollstar. The run took more than four years to finish.

A Run That Started in July 2022

The final show happened at TM Stadium National in Kuala Lumpur, ending a marathon that began in July of 2022. Pollstar reports the tour covered one hundred seventy-six shows across sixty-seven cities, thirty countries and five continents. That is a lot of airports, even for a pop star with a private plan.

Promoter Live Nation says the tour grossed more than one point three billion dollars and moved more than nine million tickets. For a Weeknd tour record, those numbers are huge, and they put him in rare company.

The Billion-Dollar Club Gets a Third Member

Only two other acts had joined the billion-dollar tour club before him: Taylor Swift, whose Eras Tour smashed almost every touring record, and Coldplay. Now the Canadian singer-songwriter sits next to them. Pollstar notes the milestone makes him the first solo male artist to get there.

That matters because stadium tours have gotten more expensive and more competitive every year. Landing nine million tickets means fans kept showing up, tour after tour, across very different markets. It also shows how well his catalogue has aged, since many of the songs people screamed along to came from albums released years before the tour even wrapped.

Asia Closed Things Out With Seventeen Sell-Outs

The last stretch was in Asia, where he played seventeen sold-out shows. The leg was first announced as an eleven-date run, then expanded because of demand. That included four nights in Hong Kong and three shows in Bangkok, according to Pollstar.

He also dropped a surprise single on October thirty-first. The song, called Hong Kong, features Cantopop icon Faye Wong and borrows from her nineteen ninety-three track Monsoon. A local radio entertainment roundup from THE NEW HOT 89.9 says he debuted it at Kai Tak Stadium after his four-night run there. Pollstar adds that the track has become a streaming hit in China.

Venue Records Everywhere He Went

The tour set records in basically every region. At SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, he set a record for the most performances and highest gross by a male artist across seven shows. He also set venue records at Toronto's Rogers Centre, which is a hometown flex if there ever was one.

In Paris, at Stade de France, he became the first artist to sell out six nights. Pollstar also says he drew more than five hundred thousand fans across France last summer and four hundred fifty thousand fans across seven sold-out stadium shows in the United Kingdom.

Giving Back Along the Way

The tour was not only about ticket sales. Pollstar says it raised eight point five million dollars for the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen, supporting hunger relief and access to quality education for children. In twenty twenty-six alone, he raised three million dollars for the United Nations World Food Programme and Global Citizen.

He also picked up the Pollstar Award for Best R&B Tour earlier this year, and his managers Amir "Cash" Esmailian and Wassim "Sal" Slaiby were named to the Pollstar Impact 50 list for their work with him.

Why This Hits Different for Fans

For Gen Z listeners, this tour was often the first real stadium show they ever saw. Many fans grew up streaming Blinding Lights and Starboy, and the tour turned those playlists into a shared live moment. Social feeds filled with clips from every stop, which kept the tour in the conversation for years rather than weeks.

It also says something about where live music is heading. Tickets are pricey, yet demand for the biggest shows keeps growing. Check the latest from the culture desk for more on how fans are spending their money on live events.

What Comes Next

For now, there is no word on what he does after the tour. After four years on the road, a break seems fair. Fans can follow more music coverage on the GenZ NewZ music page.

Whatever comes next, this Weeknd tour record gives him a new bar to beat, and it gives every other touring act a very tall number to chase.
