Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will miss at least the next five games with an abdominal strain suffered in the Thunder's blowout win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The Thunder announced he will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.\n\nGilgeous-Alexander, the heavy favorite to win back-to-back MVP awards, will not compete for the World squad at the All-Star Game despite being selected as a starter. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will need to name a replacement.\n\nThe injury comes at a critical time for the Thunder, whose next four games are all against Western Conference playoff teams: the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns, followed by a game against the Milwaukee Bucks before the break.\n\nGilgeous-Alexander has played in 49 of the Thunder's 51 games this season. Under the current timetable, he should remain eligible for MVP voting, having played in more than the required 65 games. The Thunder are 2-0 this season without their superstar.
