Temi Nkem left the Big Brother Naija house on Sunday night as the show's newest champion, taking home the ₦160 million grand prize after ten weeks of tasks, nominations and public votes. The twenty-one-year-old, whose real name is Temitope Chigbue, beat fellow finalists Aikou and Sheba to the title during the live grand finale, ThisDay reported.

The prize package set a new record for the franchise. It comprises ₦90 million in cash, a brand-new SUV and a bundle of sponsored prizes, according to QNC News. Part of the original cash component was diverted into the season's Most Influential Player of the Week purse, which is why the cash figure sits below the ₦100 million announced at launch, the same report noted.

Temi Nkem secured the highest number of public votes when voting closed on Friday, October 2, at 9 p.m., the Telegraph Nigeria reported. Temi Nkem polled 25.87 per cent of the final vote, ahead of Aikou on 23.68 per cent and Sheba on 9.80 per cent, according to QNC News. Aikou entered the house through the Gambit twist and won viewers over with a calm demeanour, while Sheba stood out early for a bold personality, the Telegraph Nigeria reported.

The finale night cleared out the remaining finalists one by one. Barry left first in ninth place, followed by Oyin, Ricky, Flora and Tram, according to TheNet NG. Bluethopia was named third runner-up and Sheba second runner-up before the host called Temi Nkem's name last, closing the show's longest season to date.

The season that broke records

The Show Ya Sef edition promised plenty of drama from the start, and it delivered. The season began in July with 24 housemates split evenly between men and women, and ran for ten weeks packed with tasks, Head of House challenges and nomination twists. It was also the first season to record two disqualifications and one voluntary exit, according to reports on the finale.

The biggest twist hit the finale lineup itself. Keivo was disqualified on September 29 after a confrontation with Tram, which cut the original ten finalists to nine, according to TheNet NG. The season also featured a Gambit twist that initially guaranteed Aikou and Flora places in the finale before the twist was overturned, and a fake eviction that briefly removed Temi, Ricky and Tram from the house before they were revealed to still be competing, ThisDay reported.

For Temi Nkem, the win caps a run that made her one of the season's most talked-about housemates, and the prize is the biggest payout in the show's history since the reality show debuted in 2006, according to TheNet NG. Born and raised in London with Nigerian roots linked to Delta State, she entered the house as a student and lifestyle content creator, according to QNC News. Her outspoken confidence, distinct British accent and catchphrase "Chakam" turned her supporters, known as the Teminators, into one of the loudest fanbases of the season. She becomes the fifth woman to win the franchise, succeeding Imisi, the Season 10 champion.

What the win means for the franchise

The live finale was hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and featured performances by singers Teni and Oshamo, the Telegraph Nigeria reported. Atinuke Babatunde, MultiChoice Nigeria's executive head of content and channels for West Africa, described the season as another exciting chapter for the franchise, according to Reuben Abati's coverage of the result.

The result keeps BBNaija's record of producing nationwide conversation going. Reality TV drama rarely travels this far outside its home country, but the viral fallout from the ComplexCon clash this weekend shows how online fandoms can turn any finale into a global trending topic. Temi Nkem's victory is already dominating timelines across Nigeria, the UK and the diaspora.

The announcement opened this year's round of reality show winners, and more finales are on the way. For now, Season 11's crown belongs to Temi Nkem, and whoever takes the next edition will have a record-breaking prize to chase.
