Taylor Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore' Adds Four Songs

Taylor Swift released The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Friday, September 25, an expanded edition of her October 2025 album that adds four new songs to the original tracklist. The new recordings are "Patient Zero," "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding" and "Babylon," listed as tracks 13 through 16, according to Consequence.

The rollout happened fast. Swift announced "Patient Zero" as her next single on September 22, then revealed the following day that it was not a standalone release but part of a larger expanded edition. Swift said in a social media post that the new material came out of a trip to Sweden to mark the original album's opening week, which she described as the biggest first week for an album in history. She traveled there with Max Martin and Shellback, her two collaborators on the album, and the celebration turned into another writing session. The songs were, in her words, "born out of pure gratitude" for how fans received the record. The original album also had every one of its dozen songs land in the top 12 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the same week, setting a chart mark no artist had hit before.

Pitchfork confirmed the new songs became available at midnight Eastern on Friday, capping a hectic stretch of announcements. When Swift unveiled "Patient Zero" on September 22, the news read like a standard single launch. The Encore continues Swift's pattern of releasing multiple configurations of the same record. The Encore arrived two days before Swift takes the stage at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27. She is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honor at the ceremony, and Consequence reported she could debut at least one of the new songs there.

Swift was not the only one releasing an "Encore" on September 25. Marvel put Avengers: Endgame Encore back in theaters the same day, with a few minutes of previously unseen footage added to connect the film to this December's Avengers: Doomsday. Joe Russo told April's Sands Film Festival the added scene works as a narrative bridge into the new film, according to Cuttings.

Online reaction to the midnight drop was split, with some fans thrilled at the new material and others asking Swift to return to earlier styles, according to Primetimer's coverage of the fan response.
