Take That are back with new music. The British pop trio announced the Take That Dreamers album on Thursday, confirming that their tenth studio record will arrive on November 20. The news came with the immediate release of the title track, plus a retro comic-book style promo video on the band's social channels and an official visualiser on YouTube. It is the group's first collection of new material since This Life, the 2023 record that soared to the top of the charts.

Gary Barlow shared the announcement on Instagram, telling fans the record had been two years in the making. He described an unhurried process with plenty of quality writing time, according to a Press Association report, and praised the cast of producers, writers, musicians and collaborators involved. He said he was happy to be ending the year looking forward and upwards.

The songs on Dreamers

Dreamers holds twelve tracks, and fans already know a few of them. The announcement followed weeks of teasing, after eagle-eyed fans spotted a new song called You're A Superstar at the end of the group's Netflix documentary. That song is on the record, alongside the recent singles Sweet July and Feel My Love, a collaboration with Irish-American singer Michael Patrick Kelly. The remaining songs carry titles including Best Heartbreak, Higher, Who Do You Think You Are, Change Of Season, My Love Is Yours, Saint and Masterpiece. One track, Wonderkids, has been described as a punchy, tongue-in-cheek commentary on the band's journey across nearly four decades.

The band say the album grew naturally out of a landmark year. They had not set out to write something that reflected on their career together, the trio explained in a statement, but sharing music and ideas during an eventful year led them to fold the lessons learned as Take That into the new songs. The group said they were happy and proud of what they had created and could not wait for everyone to hear it. A press release describes the Take That Dreamers album as a "sparkly, energetic album laden with pop hits and inspired by disco, house and classic pop." The album artwork, rendered in retro comic-book style, was revealed alongside the full tracklist.

The title track arrived on streaming platforms the same morning, backed by an official visualiser on the band's YouTube channel that sets the song against the record's retro comic-book artwork. The band revealed the news with a promo video in that same comic-book style, captioned with the release date, giving fans an immediate taste of the visual world around the new record. Pre-orders for the album are open now through the band's official channels.

The Dreamers tour and a landmark year

The Take That Dreamers album will be supported by the Dreamers Tour, billed as the group's biggest European run in years. The tour begins in Switzerland on June 3 and closes in Germany on July 23, taking in 31 shows across 16 countries, with stops in Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Spain, Italy and Austria. The announcement follows a remarkable year for the trio: their self-titled documentary topped the Netflix charts, and a revival of their ambitious 2009 Circus tour played to more than 700,000 fans across the UK and Ireland.

The announcement is the latest chapter in one of British pop's longest-running stories. Take That first formed in Manchester in the late eighties, with Barlow, Donald and Owen joined by Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. The five-piece scored hits including Pray, Relight My Fire and Back For Good before splitting in the mid-nineties, a year after Williams departed. The group reformed in 2006 and has kept performing and releasing music ever since, now as a trio.

For a band formed in Manchester in the late eighties, the pace shows no sign of slowing. The trio has kept a steady presence on the road in recent years, and the new record gives the upcoming tour a fresh set of songs alongside the catalogue of hits. Dreamers lands next month, with the title track streaming now and pre-orders open through the band's official channels.
