Prada is back at the top of the Lyst ranking, according to FashionUnited's report on the quarterly index published on October 28. The Italian house, led by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, took first place for the first time since the final quarter of 2023, with demand rising 55 percent from the previous quarter. It is a return that says plenty about what shoppers want right now, and the answer is not quiet luxury anymore.
The engine behind the climb is a single small bag. Prada's Wish Pouch, a soft pouch in silk duchesse with a fluid shape and a glossy finish, led the quarter's hottest products list, with demand surging by nearly 500 percent, FashionUnited reported. That kind of jump for one accessory is rare, and it put Prada ahead of Chanel and Miu Miu, which slipped to second and third in the Lyst ranking. The pouch costs close to a thousand euros, yet shoppers treated it as the season's must-have object, which tells you how much personality matters in fashion at the moment.
Prada has hardly been absent from the Lyst ranking in recent years. The house placed fifth in the final quarter of 2025, seventh in the first quarter of this year, and sixth in the second quarter, according to the report. Since then, though, the top spot had rotated among Miu Miu, Loewe, Saint Laurent and Chanel. Prada's return ends that run, and the margin came from accessories and footwear rather than tailoring or eveningwear. Shoppers searched, saved and bought the small, strange, characterful pieces, and the index followed them.
Character dressing drives the Lyst ranking
The wider Lyst ranking points in the same direction. Accessories and footwear filled most of the hottest products list, with COS placing second for its Trullo Flap Bag and the Celine collaboration with Reebok taking third for its Freestyle Lo sneaker. Vans and Dries Van Noten rounded out the top five with a white Premium Authentic sneaker and a long wrap scarf-skirt. Phoebe Philo's Peak sunglasses placed sixth. Collaborations kept showing up as a driver of demand, including the Celine and Reebok pairing, Mfpen with New Balance, and Khaite with Oliver Peoples, FashionUnited reported.
Further down the Lyst ranking, the movement was just as telling. Dries Van Noten entered at sixteenth after demand grew 27 percent in the quarter. Diesel returned for the first time since the first quarter of 2024, following Glenn Martens' final show for the brand for spring and summer 2027. Khaite debuted in twentieth place, as shoppers searched for its Danielle Jeans and its eyewear collaboration with Oliver Peoples. Lyst also named Conner Ives, Emily Dawn Long and Mfpen as the quarter's fastest-rising brands, with searches for Conner Ives up 49 percent, helped by its Reconstituted Vintage Robe made from reworked vintage T-shirts and deadstock fabric.
What ties these names together is a search for clothes with personality. The Lyst ranking is built from the shopping behavior of 160 million annual users, combined with search, social and other discovery signals, so it captures what people actually buy rather than what editors praise. The quarter's winners were not the safest or the most discreet pieces. They were the ones with a clear point of view: a squishy top-handle bag, a worn-in white sneaker, a scarf worn as a skirt. Even the less expensive lookalikes did well, with the COS bag outselling the far pricier Balenciaga Rodeo bag that it resembles, a sign that shoppers want the shape and the attitude more than the label itself.
Celine cracks the top ten as the old order shifts
Celine's rise deserves its own mention. The brand climbed five places to tenth in the Lyst ranking, its first time in the top ten, under creative director Michael Rider, according to FashionUnited. Lyst credited the climb to the Reebok collaboration, the L'Ete collection and its recent runway shows, while demand for Celine menswear rose 62 percent year over year. Gucci moved up one place to fourth, Saint Laurent slipped to fifth, and Dior dropped three places to sixth, with Burberry, Ralph Lauren and Chloe filling out the rest of the top ten.
For Gen Z shoppers, the Lyst ranking has become a useful weather vane. It tracks the pieces that break through on social feeds and then convert into actual sales, which is a stricter test than a viral runway moment. This quarter, that test favored brands willing to be a little odd and a little specific. Prada's pouch is not a practical everyday bag, and that is arguably the point. It reads instantly in a photo, it carries a story about craft and texture, and it looks different from the quiet, logo-free bags that dominated the last few years.
The shift also fits the broader mood in fall fashion this season, where bolder choices have been gaining ground over muted ones. Our earlier coverage of fall fashion trends leaning into velvet, red and sharp tailoring pointed in the same direction, and the vampire-inspired fall looks that spread across feeds this month showed shoppers embracing drama over discretion. Prada's return to the top of the Lyst ranking is the commercial version of that same instinct, measured in searches and sales rather than likes.
Whether Prada holds the spot into the holiday quarter will depend on whether the Wish Pouch stays scarce and desirable, and whether the house follows it with something equally distinctive. For now, the Lyst ranking has a new leader, and it got there by selling a small silk pouch that nobody strictly needed and everybody seemed to want.
