Marklo, a startup building an agentic marketing platform for direct-to-consumer brands, has raised $5 million in seed funding and opened its public beta as merchants gear up for the holiday selling season. The round was led by Forerunner, with participation from Freestyle Capital, according to the company's announcement issued on October 14, 2026.
The funding lands at a moment when agentic AI is moving from experimentation into core business workflows. Marklo's pitch is aimed at a familiar pain point: brands running on Shopify face more channels, more campaigns, and lean teams, and even AI-powered tools typically only see one corner of the business. The agentic marketing platform is designed to see the whole picture instead.
What the agentic marketing platform does
Marklo connects the tools brands already use — Shopify, Klaviyo, Attentive, Meta, Google, Slack, Canva and Figma — so products, inventory, promotions, campaigns, creative and results all sit in one system. According to the announcement, the platform understands what is happening across the business, identifies the next revenue opportunity, and proactively builds the work for marketers to review and approve.
The workflow starts with context. Brands can install Marklo in minutes, and once connected, the agentic marketing platform reconstructs launches, promotions, email, SMS, paid media, social activity and revenue into a day-by-day, year-over-year marketing calendar. That gives teams an immediate view of what drove sales in the past — and what was happening in the market around it.
From there, the system turns into a planning workspace with a shared marketing calendar, campaign canvas, task list and analytics, with Marklo working inside it. Marketers can ask about slow-moving inventory, what drove revenue last November, or what to run the week after Black Friday, and the platform answers from the brand's own data. When asked for a campaign, the agentic marketing platform writes the brief, fills it in, and builds the surrounding work — ready to edit, assign and approve.
Every week, Marklo reviews sales, inventory and what is already on the calendar, then delivers proposed campaigns and reports to the team in Slack or email, including the reasoning and the products behind each recommendation. According to the company, the work shows up already done, and the marketer decides what to edit and ship.
Early traction and the team behind it
Marklo is already used by fast-growing direct-to-consumer brands including Away, Clare V., Monica + Andy, Maya Brenner and Latico Leathers. According to the announcement, the agentic marketing platform knows what a brand has sold, what it has marketed, what is in stock and what is coming next — along with external signals such as what competitors are promoting, what is trending on social, and where the category is moving.
The early results look promising. Latico Leathers used Marklo to plan a full month of marketing in one day, replacing a process that previously took most of a week across meetings, spreadsheets and five different tools, the company reported. Away's Senior Director of Retention Marketing said the platform gives the brand a whole commercial picture and an actionable path forward.
The company was founded by serial entrepreneur Jessica Herrin, who previously built Stella & Dot Brands into a social selling company that sold more than $2 billion in products. Her team brings experience from Shopify, Google, Stanford and leading direct-to-consumer brands. The company noted that customer data remains private and is not used to train AI models — an important assurance for brands handing over sales and inventory data.
Forerunner founding partner Kirsten Green said leaner teams doing more with less is one of the most pervasive shifts in startup formation of the past few years, and that consumer brands stand to benefit from AI-driven marketing more than most. The agentic marketing platform will use the new funding to grow its product and engineering teams, expand the public beta, and invest in customer success and community programs.
Why this launch matters for agentic commerce
Marklo's launch is part of a broader wave of agentic AI moving into vertical business software. Rather than a general-purpose assistant, the agentic marketing platform is purpose-built for one job: telling a commerce brand what to market next and building the cross-channel campaigns to execute it. That specialization — commerce data, competitor signals, inventory awareness — is what separates it from generic AI marketing tools.
The timing is deliberate. With the platform opening its public beta ahead of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the broader holiday season, brands can use Marklo to see what worked last year, identify overlooked products and campaigns, and optimize this year's marketing plan. Early customers have called the platform a "no-brainer," according to the company.
As brands decide whether to hand campaign planning to an agentic marketing platform, the question is no longer whether AI will touch marketing workflows — it is which systems get to see the whole business. Marklo is betting that the winner sees everything. More details and public beta access are available at Marklo.ai, and the company is listed in the Shopify App Store and Klaviyo's integrations directory.
