LEGO One Piece Netflix Special Streams Today

One Piece fans have something new to press play on today. Netflix is premiering a two-part LEGO One Piece Netflix special, two animated episodes that rebuild the live-action series in plastic bricks. The twist is the narrator. Usopp, the Straw Hats' most famously unreliable storyteller, recounts the crew's adventures to Tony Tony Chopper, which means the version of events viewers get is the one Usopp wishes had happened.

The special works as a fast recap of the first two seasons of Netflix's live-action One Piece. It starts in the East Blue, where Luffy gathers the crew, and follows them into the Grand Line, stopping just before Chopper joins at Drum Island. Each episode runs half an hour, so the whole thing plays like one compact movie. The trailer shows the Straw Hats' chaotic encounter with Buggy the Clown getting the full brick treatment, along with other highlights from the live-action run, as ComingSoon reported.

Behind the scenes, the credits show how seriously Netflix is taking the project. Chelsea Ker directed both episodes, and Tom Hyndman wrote the special and served as showrunner. The animation comes from Atomic Cartoons, the Vancouver studio behind the LEGO Star Wars specials. Series creator Eiichiro Oda executive produces alongside Hyndman, Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, Lars Danielsen, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements, per production reporting on the announcement.

A bridge between seasons

Netflix rolled out the project at this year's Anime NYC, where it showed the main trailer, new first-look images, and a fresh key visual of the brick-built Straw Hat crew. The streamer released character posters for the LEGO versions of Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, and Buggy in the days before launch, according to Bleeding Cool. The artwork leans into the joke that Usopp is telling everything: his versions of the fights and reunions are bigger, louder, and less accurate than the ones in the live-action show.

The special arrives at a busy moment for the franchise. The live-action series' third season, subtitled The Battle of Alabasta, is slated for next year, and WIT Studio's anime remake, The One Piece, is set for February 2027, according to ComingSoon. For new viewers, the LEGO One Piece Netflix special is a comic entry point before Alabasta and give longtime fans a version of the early sagas they have never seen. Netflix framed the project as part of a wider expansion of its One Piece universe, alongside the live-action series and the upcoming remake.

It is also the kind of crossover that makes sense on paper. One Piece has one of the most loyal fan bases in entertainment, and LEGO's licensed animations have a long record of turning big franchises into family viewing.
