COVER Corporation has pulled back the curtain on hololive's first TV anime. During a joint livestream with Kadokawa on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the companies revealed the official title, the full cast, and the production staff for the hololive anime project, previously teased under the mystery keyword "Odeholo." The series is called hololive: Let's Head Out!, and it will follow 29 of the agency's VTubers as they travel across Japan together, according to Anime News Network's reporting on the announcement.
The reveal is the centerpiece of hololive production's tenth anniversary celebrations. Rather than putting the talents behind their usual streaming setups, the show sends them out on their days off for an omnibus-style travel story: different groups visiting different parts of the country across the seasons, eating local food, laughing a lot, and wandering into places they have never been. COVER's official synopsis frames it with a simple question, rendered in English as "Where shall we go today?", which sets the relaxed tone the producers are aiming for.
A 29-talent cast and a Studio KAI production
The cast list spans hololive's earliest generations through its newest debuts. It includes Tokino Sora, the agency's founding talent, alongside Roboco-san, Shirakami Fubuki, Sakura Miko, Hoshimachi Suisei, Usada Pekora, Houshou Marine, Tokoyami Towa, and AZKi, the agency's music-focused artist, among others. Putting that many performers into one hololive anime is unusual, and it explains the anthology structure: the travel format lets the show rotate groups of talents through standalone outings instead of forcing all of them into a single storyline.
Behind the camera, Studio KAI leads animation production, with Shunsuke Machitani directing and Ori Yasukawa assisting. Kodai Minami of Studio KAI handles series composition, Masatoshi Tsuji adapts the character designs for animation, and COVER Corporation itself is credited with the original story. The choice of studio is a deliberate one. Studio KAI has already animated hololive short films and music videos, so the team arrives with experience translating the talents' avatar designs to screen, Anime News Network noted.
The project was first teased earlier in September 2026 with a short trailer and a promise of full details on the 23rd, which the livestream delivered along with a teaser visual showing all 29 participating talents. Official channels are already live for the production: a dedicated website at odeholo.com plus accounts on X, YouTube, and TikTok under the Odeholo name. Music details, including the theme song, had not been announced as of the reveal, according to coverage of the stream.
Why a travel anime makes sense for VTubers
The format plays to what VTuber audiences already love. Hololive's biggest moments tend to be collaborative: group streams, concerts, and variety collabs where personalities bounce off each other. A travel show is essentially that dynamic with better scenery, giving fans the interactions they tune in for while adding the food and tourism angles that perform well across Japanese television. It also sidesteps the hardest problem in VTuber animation, which is making virtual performers feel physically present. On a road trip, the setting does half the work.
There is also a business logic that is hard to miss. Anime adaptations have become one of the most reliable ways to convert online fandoms into mainstream audiences, and hololive is one of the largest VTuber agencies in the world, run by Japan's COVER Corporation. A TV anime puts the brand in front of viewers who have never watched a stream, while the anniversary framing gives existing fans a milestone to rally around. Kadokawa's involvement as a co-announcer suggests ambitions beyond a niche release, though neither company has said how wide the distribution will be.
For fans, the honest caveat is that the reveal left the biggest questions unanswered. No broadcast date, no list of broadcasters or streaming partners, and no episode count were announced, which means international viewers do not yet know where or when they will be able to watch. Those details typically arrive in a follow-up announcement, and the newly launched official channels are where they will land first. Given that the Naruto franchise is also building toward a major anime announcement at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026, anime fans have a crowded few weeks ahead.
