HiDream.ai has launched vivago R1 globally, an end-to-end video creation agent that turns a conversational brief into finished video through a coordinated crew of specialized agents. Announced on October 9, 2026 from Beijing, vivago R1 folds scriptwriting, storyboarding, video generation, and editing into a single workflow, aiming to produce finished videos rather than collections of independently generated clips. The release marks one of the clearest attempts yet to bring multi-agent orchestration into creative production, and it gives outside AI agents a new way to call video creation through a command-line interface.
A production crew of agents
The vivago R1 architecture treats video production the way a studio treats a shoot: as coordination work. A lead agent interprets the user's brief and develops a production plan, while specialized agents handle scripts, storyboards, characters, environments, and audio. HiDream's HD-AgentOS sits underneath, managing the workflow and the shared context so decisions made early in the process persist through later stages, according to the company's announcement.
Projects can start from a written prompt or from reference material such as images, video, and documents. Approved assets can be saved and carried into later work, which keeps characters, locations, props, and voices consistent across shots. For serialized content, creators can bring established characters and settings into subsequent episodes — a practical answer to the continuity problem that has made longer AI-generated stories hard to pull off. According to the launch materials, creator examples include a nearly five-minute story inspired by Journey to the West and an advertisement following a designer who captures ideas throughout the day on a red foldable phone.
The interface is chat-first. Instead of manually sequencing tools, a creator can ask for a scene to be rewritten, a storyboard to be adjusted, or a visual element to be changed, and the agent crew revises the work in progress. A library called SkillHub supplies reusable workflows for recurring production tasks such as building a product ad or a narrative short. According to the company, vivago R1 can complete videos of up to five minutes inside a single production workflow, with the option to extend a project through additional rounds of creation.
A video specialist for broader AI workflows
The most significant move for the agent ecosystem may be the command-line interface. According to HiDream, the vivago R1 CLI lets developers call the platform's video creation capabilities from scripts, task queues, and compatible general-purpose AI agents. A marketing team could develop a campaign concept inside its existing workflow and hand the video production step to vivago, or fold video generation into automated batch workflows that produce content at scale.
CLI-supported tasks include initiating video generation, processing media assets, and managing production jobs. The design treats video as a callable capability inside larger systems rather than a destination app — an architectural bet that mirrors how coding, search, and data analysis have been absorbed into agentic workflows. The company notes that availability of specific integrations may vary by platform, which suggests the rollout is still maturing.
An omnimodal model on the way
HiDream plans to integrate HiDream-O1-Video-1.0, its native omnimodal video model, into vivago R1 in an upcoming update. According to the announcement, the model ranked fourth globally on the Artificial Analysis Image to Video Leaderboard with audio at launch and seventh on the Arena.ai image-to-video leaderboard. The model generates 1080p video with natively synchronized audio and is built to handle multimodal instructions, physical behavior, and audiovisual coherence. The rankings reflect publicly available results at the time of the model's launch and are subject to change, according to the company's disclaimer.
HiDream.ai describes itself as focused on generative AI and native omnimodal world models, built on a unified UiT architecture that spans image generation, video generation, interactive world simulation, and embodied intelligence. The stated goal is AI systems that can understand, generate, simulate, and act on the real world — language that positions vivago R1 less as a standalone video tool and more as one instrument in a broader agentic platform.
The platform is available globally at vivago.ai, and HiDream has released an updated version of Gouda for users in China. A demo video shows the workflow in action. As agent platforms continue to absorb creative work, the question hanging over vivago R1 is whether coordinating many small agents produces better five-minute stories than one big model simply trying harder — an answer the creative market will deliver before long.
