Microsoft has revealed the first wave of Xbox Game Pass additions for October, a lineup of nine games rolling out between October 8 and October 16. The headline is Battlefield 6, which joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13. The rest of the wave is heavy on day-one launches, and the full schedule is laid out in a Pure Xbox roundup of the October additions. The announcement was posted on Xbox Wire on October 7, according to a write-up from Senior Community Lead Megan Spurr.

Battlefield 6 arrives just under a year after its original launch in October 2025. Its Game Pass debut is timed to the start of Season 5, which opens with two new battlefields: a destructible Las Vegas map built around casinos, rooftops and city streets, and an Area 51-inspired military complex with open desert combat and underground tunnels. The season also adds new weapons, vehicles, Platoons, multiplayer leaderboards, Rapid Royale and Ranked Battle Royale. Subscribers can claim an EA Play Deployment Pack and a Season 5 EA Play Pack, plus a 10 percent discount on eligible EA digital purchases, according to a G2A roundup of the Season 5 details. Fairgate Report notes that Kotaku has called Battlefield 6 last year's best-selling game.

The timing puts Battlefield 6 on Game Pass shortly before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 reaches stores on October 23, according to Gagadget, which cites Windows Central. The rival shooter is not coming to the service. Season 5 also marks the start of Battlefield 6's second year, with new content rolling out across the season, according to the same roundup.

The October lineup

Three games are already available. Echo Weaver, a time-loop metroidvania in which the last Weaver replays an unraveling timeline, and Forever Ago, a single-player road trip adventure following a driver named Alfred north in search of redemption, both arrived on October 8 as day-one releases for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. They were joined by Neon Abyss 2, a pixelated cyberpunk roguelike set in New Athens. It is the only title in this wave that also reaches the Game Pass Premium tier.

The middle of the month centers on October 13. Alongside Battlefield 6, subscribers get Deep Dish Dungeon, a survival exploration game with hand-crafted dungeons, gear upgrades and solo or online co-op play, and Valor Mortis, a first-person soulslike from One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner. Echo Weaver is playable on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while Forever Ago also supports consoles, according to TrueAchievements. The wave arrives in a busy stretch for gaming news, which also brought word of a touchscreen MacBook Pro landing in October.

Valor Mortis leads the day-one list

Valor Mortis casts players as an undead soldier in an alternate-history Napoleonic era. French actor Vincent Cassel voices Napoleon in the game, according to Gagadget's report on the lineup. The release was originally planned for September 24 before the date moved to October, and it will also run on ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, reported by TrueAchievements.

The wave closes with Bluey's Happy Snaps, a photo adventure based on the children's show that supports a second player, and Chained Beasts, a co-op gladiator roguelike for one to four players. Both arrive on October 15 as day-one releases for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Beyond These Stars, a city builder set on the back of a giant space whale, finishes the rollout on October 16 and is available on PC only.

TrueAchievements' table of the wave shows every title is limited to Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with Neon Abyss 2 the lone exception also reaching Premium subscribers. Xbox Wire also lists Shape of Dreams, a top-down roguelite, as available now on Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass, according to Fairgate Report.

Games leaving the service

The rotation cuts the other way on October 15. Microsoft confirmed that the following titles leave Game Pass that day: A Plague Tale: Requiem, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, Evil West, Nova Roma, Pacific Drive, Superball and The Casting of Frank Stone. Anyone still working through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 or A Plague Tale: Requiem has until October 15 to finish them before they leave the catalog.
