Former Major League Baseball speedster Terrance Gore has died at age 34, the Kansas City Royals announced on Saturday, February 7, 2026. According to USA Today, Gore's wife Britney posted on social media that he died from complications following routine surgery. He leaves behind three children.\n\nGore was known as one of the most feared baserunners in baseball during his eight-season career. Despite batting just .216 with only 85 plate appearances in the majors, Gore's impact came from his incredible speed. He stole 48 bases in 58 attempts across just 112 regular-season games and 11 postseason appearances.\n\nGore was often added to rosters late in the regular season specifically to serve as a pinch runner in close games. He played for the Royals, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Mets during his career.\n\n'If the score was tied and you got him into the game to run, it was like the game was over,' said former Mets manager Buck Showalter. Gore was selected in the 20th round of the 2011 draft by the Royals after playing for Gulf Coast State College in Florida.
