One of the biggest game launches of the fall just became a data point in the streaming wars. During its first ten days, EA Sports FC 27 Kick Viewership reached 43.6 percent of total Hours Watched, against 48.9 percent for Twitch: almost an even split between the two rival live-streaming giants. For a platform that normally holds a commanding lead at major game releases, Twitch has rarely been this close to a genuine tie on its own turf, according to figures reported by Streams Charts.
The numbers around the launch were substantial on every front. EA Sports FC 27 generated more than 29 million Hours Watched in its first ten days, with an average audience of 121.6 thousand viewers and a peak of 444.7 thousand concurrent viewers. More than 52,700 unique channels broadcast the game, while sponsored broadcasts accounted for just 2.33 percent of the watch time, a typical share for a major release where organic creator interest does the heavy lifting.
A launch where Kick punched far above its weight
The platform split is what makes this launch genuinely unusual. Streams Charts noted that Twitch typically holds a much larger lead for major game releases, yet FC 27 finished seventh among all games on Twitch while ranking fourth on Kick over the same period. That placement gap tells the story of where the game's community concentrated its attention: football streaming in 2026 is disproportionately a Kick strength, and this launch proved it.
Geography helps explain why. Audiences in Germany, the United Kingdom, and France generated around half of the game's total Hours Watched, and Poland was the surprise leader by streamer count, accounting for roughly 11 percent of all channels that broadcast the game. Kick has leaned hard into European football creators over the past year, and FC 27's launch rewarded that bet. IShowSpeed's broadcast drew more than 92 thousand concurrent viewers, the highest peak of any individual creator, while German streamer eliasn97 led all creators by total watch time.
Kick's momentum is showing up everywhere in 2026
The FC 27 numbers did not come out of nowhere. According to TalkEsport's coverage of 2026 streaming data, Kick generated 1.34 billion Hours Watched in the second quarter, a 36.7 percent increase year over year, while its unique channel count climbed 45.5 percent to roughly 807,700. Streams Charts data showed the gap between the platforms shrinking from nearly five times as much watch time on Twitch a year ago to about three times today. Kick also passed 100 million registered users back in April 2026, and its esports broadcasts grew 66 percent quarter over quarter in Q2 on the strength of Counter-Strike events like the IEM Cologne Major.
For context on how rare a close launch like this is, Twitch reported 8.6 billion Hours Watched across its 2026 State of Gaming report, and EA's own football franchise has historically been a Twitch stronghold. FC 27 beat its predecessor too: the new game generated 4.64 percent more Hours Watched over its first ten days than FC 26 did, and it held viewers' attention better, with daily watch time falling about 51.4 percent by day ten versus a steeper 59.3 percent decline for FC 26. Better retention plus a near-tie between platforms makes the EA Sports FC 27 Kick Viewership numbers a clear sign this year's football launch outperformed even its own predecessor.
What this means for the streaming race
None of this means Kick has caught Twitch overall. Twitch's scale across the full year remains several times larger. The move to Kick has not been painless for every creator either: Kick payout errors recently forced the platform to issue backpay to streamers. But launches are trend reports, and FC 27's is the clearest one yet that the Twitch-Kick gap is now thin enough to close entirely on the right game. The game's new social football mode, The Grounds, was built around street matches, one-on-one play, and Clubs, exactly the kind of creator-friendly spectacle that travels well on Kick's football-heavy audience. With Twitch's CEO recently calling the platform's big streamer bidding war unsustainable, the battle is shifting from contracts to communities, and FC 27 suggests Kick's community is growing faster than anyone assumed.
