Maryland rock veterans Clutch have given fans a double shot of good news: a brand-new studio record and a full slate of live dates to go with it. The band's fourteenth studio album, Wasted Lands, arrives worldwide January 22, 2027, through the group's own Weathermaker Music, and the raucous, riff-driven title track is already streaming alongside an official music video, as reported by My Global Mind. The Clutch tour schedule is equally stacked: sixteen shows across the American South, Midwest and Northeast open October 16, 2026, at The Fillmore Charlotte, with support from Slomosa and Blood Vulture.

According to the band's statement, the lyrics for the title track came from an unlikely place: a stranger on Facebook claiming singer Neil Fallon had stiffed them on a free t-shirt from a pay-to-play contest. "I thought, screw it, no half-measures," Fallon explained in the announcement. "You want a monster? Let's give you one." The song conjures a creature so malign that H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King are name-checked only to admit even they could not dream it up.

The upcoming LP also reunites the band with producer Machine for the first time since 2015's Psychic Warfare. The twelve tracks were written and recorded at the group's longtime Frederick, Maryland headquarters, the Doom Saloon, after the band scrapped two earlier batches of material they felt were too studio-bound. This one was built from the start to explode on stage, a deliberate choice after years of road-testing every arrangement in front of crowds.

What the new Clutch record sounds like

Riff-heavy foundations remain intact, but the band is leaning into a sharper melodic streak this time. Tracks such as "Colorado Fuel And Iron," "Stage Fright" and "Loaf 'N Jug" build their weight around chord progressions as much as individual riffs. "Beware The Fever" brings a banjo onto a Clutch record for the first time: a rough demo performance that survived every attempt to re-record it and made the final cut, as reported by KNAC.

Lyrically, the record runs from the rubble of the Georgia Guidestones to deep space. Fallon's songs travel through Colorado's Highway 50, abandoned company towns and creature-feature horror before closing beneath an exploding star. It is the band's first full-length since 2022's Sunrise on Slaughter Beach, a four-year gap that makes the new release the most anticipated in the band's catalog in years.

The Clutch tour: dates, support acts and tickets

The Clutch tour is the first chance American fans will get to hear the new material live, and the routing reads like a greatest-hits map of the band's touring strongholds. The run opens in Charlotte, swings through the Florida coast and New Orleans, then works the Midwest and Northeast before closing at The NorVa in Norfolk. Standouts include a Halloween-weekend stop in Cincinnati and a New England double in Vermont and New Hampshire. Tickets are on sale now through the band's merch store, and the Clutch tour announcement points fans to the full itinerary with ticket links there.

Why this Clutch tour matters for fans

Clutch have spent more than three decades operating as a fully independent act, releasing records through the label they founded in 2008 and keeping the same four members since 1991. For a band that built its following the slow way, through relentless gigging rather than shortcuts, the Clutch tour cycle is the center of gravity, not a sideshow. The band has been explicit about the goal: write songs that make crowds go wild live while leaving room for the unexpected turns that have kept the project exciting across the decades.

The global run keeps moving after the record lands. The group heads to Australia in January 2027, where five shows with Corrosion of Conformity open in Perth the day after the release and wrap in Adelaide at the end of the month.

Pre-orders, vinyl variants and how to listen

Pre-order bundles are live now in a wide spread of physical editions: standard black vinyl, cassette and CD everywhere, plus store-exclusive variants including red vinyl through the band's own shop, yellow smoke through US independent retail, green smoke via a major online retailer, sea blue smoke through TalkShopLive and a blue edition for international buyers. The title track is streaming now, and its official video premiered on the band's YouTube channel, an early preview of the Clutch tour setlists to come.
